We're inching our way towards parking sanity. Something like that, yea. The solar powered multi-space parking meters have hit Mount Pleasant Street and are in operation. They will allow more cars to park on the commercial strip and make feeding the meter and extending your stay less convenient. Hopefully that will lead to increased turnover and give businesses a small boost. Most of the neighborhood is still on two-hour, Zone One parking, however. Very few unzoned streets left at this point.

Hopefully they won't pull out the parking meters, or at least keep the poles. Because we need 'em for bike parking! Either they need to put in more bike racks (that'd be a lot), or they could leave the old meter poles in, or get creative. I've seen some cities that put in ring loops in the two holes that the physical meters themselves were in. I'd post the pics here, but it's late, and I'm going to bed. Let's keep the bike parking in the Mt.P. We need all we can get.
I was about to say the same thing... I need those poles for my moped!
Those things are ugly. I hope the day comes when one is designed that is smaller and less obstructive. The meters, physically speaking, are more attractive, and that ain't saying a lot.
yes, it looks as if nearly all the old meters were taken away. there was one left on lamont street across the street from don juans.
almost all the neighborhoods in mid town can use more bike racks/posts.
Bike racks are coming. DDOT and the DC commission on the Arts partnered up to make artist designed racks for the whole city.
that's great news anon 8:25, thanks!
