The Embassy Apartments are located in the southern part of Mount Pleasant on Harvard St NW. Across from Rat Park and the Argonne Apartments. Several years ago the tenants fought off a condo conversion, and although I've never been inside, I understand it's as beautiful on the inside as out.

My wife and I have lived in the Embassy for a few years. Sadly, the owner is selling the units, thus forcing us to move out. The building is gorgeous and the apartments are quite lovely (think Upper West Side-style). And the rent was a steal! We will miss living in the Embassy.
I also live in the Embassy but moved in about 6 months ago. Although it's a beautiful apartment building and cheap rent the management company is not so good (maybe they don't care anymore about the tenants knowing it's moving to condos?). There is a horrible roach problem, at least on the first floor, and the door lock to the building had been broken for almost 2 weeks. Even after multiple complaints management didn't fix it until two days after the boy was killed on Columbia (locks were broken on that building). I'm altogether happy to be moving soon.
I looked at an apartment there once and it was beautiful. Too bad the rent was through-the-roof expensive ($1,400 per month for an efficiency).
i need to do dome more research. i'd like to know when it was constructed, if anyone knows. sad to hear of all the issues with such a beautiful place.
and so, they are doing the conversion into condos? i know it was defeated 3-4 years ago, eseentially because the owners waited to long to act on the paperwork (they first applied to convert over 20 years ago). so maye they reapplied. if anyone know more, i'd like to hear.
I used to reside at Park Plaza around the corner on Columbia and 16th (now the ARgonne). My apartment was massive and even had a several walk in closets. Much easier to live in than my current Mt. Pleasant row house with no storage and tiny rooms.
