Apartment Houses: The Woodward

This apartment building (now condos) is located in Kalorama neighborhood, at 2311 Connecticut Ave NW. It was constructed 1909-1910. The developer was Samuel Walter Woodward (of Woodward & Lothrop!). The building was designed in Spanish Renaissance and Spanish Colonial styles by architects Harding and Upman. This photo does not do the building justice, but does show the detail of the main entrance.  Plenty of terracotta ornamentation, two stately towers topping the condos and rich reds and greens to accent the golden brick color that comprises most of the building. Here's a wider angle shot. Really beautiful structure.
