Goodall's Organic Bistro Coming to Mount Pleasant

Big news for Mount Pleasant today. Tonic and Last Exit have closed. A new restaurant, Goodall's Organic Bistro, will open in those spaces soon.

First of all, THANK YOU TONIC AND LAST EXIT. Over the last 10 years Tonic has become a permanent part of the Mount Pleasant story and was a go-to place for me for all manner of occasions. I have many memories there including gathering at Last Exit to celebrate a wonderful friend's engagement, watching soul crushing character building loses by the Caps, happy hour with out-of-town friends, drinking to Presidential election returns, trivia, and TOTS. Please continue to support Tonic by visiting the Foggy Bottom location; 2036 G Street NW.

The new restaurant, located at 3155 Mount Pleasant Street NW, will be called Goodall's Organic Bistro. The owner, Will Warren, is a long time Mount Pleasant resident and small business owner. This place already has a lot going for it based on who is involved. Dave Duffy (formerly of Great Sage) and Danielle Sharkey (Tabard Inn, Girard's) are advising on the culinary side. And Nick Pimentel (Room 11) is assisting with interior design. Each of the three rooms will have its own distinct ambiance and personality.

There's no set menu at this time, but it will be vegetarian and vegan friendly. Here's a bit more information via an email form  the owner:

"Goodall's Bistro will feature a seasonally rotating menu of the freshest foods from locally sourced organic farms, and free range ranches in the Mid-Atlantic region. We will serve dinner seven days a week from 5-10pm, and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-3pm, with the option of expanding our services down the line.

Our drink menu will highlight organic spirits as frequently as possible, craft microbrew beers from our region, and a phenomenal wine list recommended by the top Wine Director in the city.  While emphasizing a healthy approach to food, we would be remiss if we forgot to include scrumptious desserts in our mix.  Despite having a slightly more refined menu, Goodall's promises to still celebrate the gregarious, family-friendly nature of this wonderful neighborhood."

In short, I'm really excited! Like all neighborhoods, Mount Pleasant is always changing; adding, subtracting, expanding, rotating. I'm looking forward to this new restaurant, an addition to what I believe is an already strong and diverse set of establishments. Good luck to Goodall's! I'll pass along more information as it comes.
