The Adams Morgan Blockbuster location closed late last year. The retail space at 1805 Columbia Rd is in a prime spot: just a block from busy 18th Street, on multiple bus lines and walkable from the Woodley Park Metro station. It is located in the first floor of the photo pictured above.
What would you like to see there?

an honest to goodness fresh simple bakery.
I am not talking about complicated pastry from India/ Germany/ Caribbean etc.
But just bagels, bagets, breads. Simple things that we can all look forward to being baked fresh everyday. I would wake up at 5 in the am for that!
I thought it was supposed to be a pay-what-you-can Panera bakery?
I don't think the space is right, but a movie theater similar to Arlington Drafthouse or the old Visions would be nice to have in the neighborhood.
Probably too large of a space but I would love to have a really good (non-FTD) florist nearby. The one on 14th is the pits.
It's be great if they opened the space to: a small local business, community center, art space, book store, veg-friendly cafe, or anything that isn't Wal Mart.

I second the non-Panera bakery suggestion. Good fresh bread is surprisingly difficult to come by in the neighborhood, especially considering how many other food options there are.
I think a "Teaism" in Adams Morgan would be nice...and a bakery, too. Regarding the florist, there was a florist on 18th St. (little shop of flowers, I think)...I think it's still there.
