National Gallery of Art: Under Construciton

This photo is actually from last September. The National Gallery of Art East Wing is undergoing a multi-year update of its outer panels. Every marble panel (over 16,000) is being removed and remounted with new support scheming. The $85 million dollar project is not interrupting the art schedule for either wing. Construction should be complete in 2014.
