The 12th Annual Mt. Pleasant Youth Arts Fair and Art Walk is happening all next month, from May 1 to 31, 2012. This year’s Fair features artwork from 8 schools and after school programs, displayed inside the neighborhood’s interim library and businesses along Mt. Pleasant Street NW. This year's theme: “Mt Pleasant—The Neighborhood!”
The art will be displayed in 14 businesses: Corado’s Guatemalan Restaurant, Dollar Star, Dos Gringos Café & Ice Cream Parlor, El West, Flying Fish Coffee & Tea, Frugalista, Heller's Bakery & Cafe, Las Americas Dental Health, Melissa Beauty Salon, Mt. Pleasant Care Pharmacy, Nana, Old School Hardware, Tex-Mex Burrito, and the Mount Pleasant Interim Library (3162 Mt. Pleasant Street). The Art Walk map highlighting the exhibit locations will be available at the Interim Library and the Mt. Pleasant Care Pharmacy.
The Mt. Pleasant Youth Arts Fair will feature works from Asian American LEAD, Bancroft Elementary School, Bell Multicultural High School, Capital City Public Charter School, Lincoln Multicultural Middle School, Latin American Youth Center Art & Media House, Rosemount Center, and Sacred Heart School. The fair is sponsored by the Mount Pleasant Business Association (MPBA) and the Friends of Mt. Pleasant Library.
The Art Fair’s Closing Reception and Awards Night is open to the public and will be held on May 30 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at La Casa Community Center, 3166 Mt. Pleasant St.
