Candy Store IT'S SUGAR Opening Downtown

IT'S SUGAR  and FroZenYo will replace Ruby Tuesday
The IT'S SUGAR candy store chain will open its first DC location on busy 7th Street NW in Penn Quarter. With a planned opening of August 2013, this 1775 sq ft store should rake in the $$$ at 714 7th Street NW. This retail space is above Rocket Bar and partially comprises what was most recently a Ruby Tuesday. It's one half block from the Chinatown Friendship Arch, Metro's Gallery Pl-Chinatown rail station, and the Verizon Center.

IT'S SUGAR sells a mix of everyday candy, clothing, gifts, and novelty items. A few examples: a PMS chocolate bar (problematic), Hello Kitty Beanie Baby (hmm, ok), salt water taffy (memories!), and a 26 pound gummy python (no. just... no.). I see... in their future... lots of tourists. Lots and lots and lots... of tourists. Tourists who will act as cover for when you want to sneak in. Because I know you will. Everyone has a sweet tooth.

In a weird twist, the space next to IT'S SUGAR will offer another sweet treat: frozen yogurt. FroZenYo will open this summer as well, right next door at 712 7th Street NW, only blocks from another location already operating at 1006 F Street NW. FroZenYo is a DC-based chain with 11 stores in the Washington area. They plan to open 4 more, including a location in Boston, MA.
