Organizers are expecting 10,000 people to make their way down to the SE waterfront this weekend for DC VegFest. The growing annual event will be held for a second year at Yards Park (3rd and Tingey Sts SE, near Navy Yard Metro). It's this Saturday from 11:00AM - 6:00PM.
There are over 100 exhibitors including a bunch of vegan food vendors: Amsterdam Falafelshop,Vegan Treats Bakery, Pete's Apizza, Woodland's Vegan Bistro, Treeline Cheese, Loving Hut, Khepra's Juice Bar and too many more to list. Don't want a whole meal? (WHY NOT) There will be plenty of free samples from, like Tofurky, Beyond Meat (this stuff is so good), Larabar, Alternative Baking Company and others. DC's Bread and Brew is operating the beer and wine garden.
Not sure if they had this last year, but there's an "Ask a Vegan Mom" booth -very cool- as well as a vegan food drive! VegFest is partnering with the Capital Area Food Bank this year to collect your non-perishable vegan food items, so bring them.
The schedule of speakers is also finalized. ASL interpretation is provided on the main stage:
John Schlimm / Author of The Tipsy Vegan
Wendy Rieger / News Anchor
Dr. Ruby Lathon / Host of The Veggie Chest
Paul Shapiro / Humane Society of the United States
Rich Roll / Vegan ultra athlete
Dr. Milton Mills / Preventative Medicine
Dan + Annie Shannon / Authors of Betty Goes Vegan
Josh Tetrick / Hampton Creek Foods
Ayinde Howell / ieatgrass.com
Doron Peterson / Sticky Fingers Sweets and Eats
Come early! The first 1,000 visitors get a vegan swag/product bag. Admission to this event is FREE. See you!
