High Dive and Songbyrd: New in Adams Morgan

High Dive has a patio!
High Dive, the newest bar on 18th Street NW, will open tomorrow Tuesday April 28. High Dive is at 2337 18th St NW. This space was formerly home to the Pharmacy Bar. I stopped in yesterday to peek inside. It looks great!

The look is a bit more sleek with the walls a uniform dark grey featuring black trim and accents. The lighting fixtures are new, as are the tables and chairs. However, the overall feel is pretty much still the same. No new walls or other construction, but there is a new jukebox. I flipped through the music selection for a few seconds and thumbs up at first glance. Out front is a patio with benches, which would be awesome to sit at if it's open tomorrow. Good luck High Dive!

In other Adams Morgan news, Songbyrd Record Cafe opened in Adams Morgan recently. Occupying the storefront formerly held by CD/Game Exchange, Federal Restaurant, and Z-Kabob, Songbyrd is a neat music-coffee-food concept space. It's actually half open at for now, the other half will be an actual live music venue, open date TBD.

But as for the side open today, coffee drinks and sandwiches are featured on the food menu. There are two vegan/optional choices and even a neat take on the jumbo slice. It's called the Mumbo Slice and is more of an open-faced sandwich (including mumbo sauce), than a slice of pizza. Pretty clever. There are about a dozen music stations --iPads with Spotify and headphones-- where you can chill and listen to music while having food and drink. And of course there are records for sale. Looking forward to checking out the food and listening to some tunes!

Listening stations on one wall.
Really like that they kept the "Bob" from Z Kabob!
