Food Truck Thursday Returns to Mount Pleasant

Last month hundreds of Mount Pleasant residents came out on a lovely Thursday to chow down on some post-workday eats from four food trucks. The night was a success, (maybe too much!) with healthy lines and some food shortages, but leaving no doubt that an evening food truck visit to Mount Pleasant can work. 

The trucks will be back this Thursday --June 21-- at the same location, Lamont Park. This time there will be five trucks: Pleasant Pops, Fojol Bros, PORC, Tasty Kabob, and one of my personal favorites, Takorean. Food trucks near Metro Center

Food trucks! These mobile restaurants are in and around DC's downtown on a daily basis. 99% of my food truck visits are Monday-Friday, at lunch time. I've encountered them in other settings, but rarely. You may see a lunch time truck in Friendship Heights, or a weekend truck near Eastern Market. But for the most part, downtown lunch is where it's at.

In a few weeks though, several trucks will make the trip to Mount Pleasant, selling food "after hours." April 26 will be the first (of many?) Food Truck Thursdays in Mount Pleasant.

So far, three trucks have signed on -- our friends at Fojol Bros, Mt P regulars Pleasant Pops, and the PORC truck. There may be additional trucks by that time, too. (Personally, I would love to see Takorean!) The trucks will be adjacent to Lamont Park, at the corner of Lamont and Mount Pleasant Sts NW. They'll be serving from about 5:30PM until 8:30PM, the after-work and dinner hours.
