House and Garden Tour Will Benefit Bancroft

The Bancroft Elementary Parent Teacher Organization will be the beneficiary of this year's Mount Pleasant House & Garden Tour. We called it the PTA (A for Association) in my elementary school, but the purpose is the same; a support group for the school, its teachers, and other parents. Bancroft Elementary is located in the heart of Mount Pleasant at 1755 Newton St NW.

The tour is on October 18 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Read more details here and see here for tickets ($25/$35 in advance).

From the organizers:

"Join us for the 2nd Annual Mt. Pleasant House & Garden Tour in support of the Bancroft Elementary PTO! Spend the afternoon exploring the homes and garden oases of our Mt. Pleasant neighbors. Homes will be open until 5 pm then join us for a post-tour cocktail.

All proceeds will go to support the programs and activities of the Bancroft PTO which always work to uphold our vision and ambitions!! Bancroft Holiday Tree Sale is December 7+8

The annual Bancroft Elementary Holiday Tree Sale is back, and it is happening on Saturday December 7th and Sunday December 8th. The Bancroft School PTA hosts this yearly tree sale, which doubles as benefit. I've shopped here many times, and yes, there are actually trees for all budgets and of all sizes, provided you don't wait until the last second. They will also have a supply of stands, wreaths, and other limited accouterments. Not kidding, if you are into this idea, don't wait until 3PM on Sunday to make moves. Go early.

The sale starts at 10AM each day and ends at 4PM. Bancroft Elementary is located at 1755 Newton St NW, but the trees are sold around back near the playground. Just walk a little further down 18th Street, or follow the smell of pine needles.

Holiday Tree Sale + Ugly Sweater Party

The Holiday Tree Sale is back! The sale will be held at Bancroft Elementary School and is hosted by the school's PTA. Bancroft is located in Mount Pleasant at the corner of 18th & Newton Streets NW. The sale will take place on the playground behind the school (entrance on 18th) and in the cafeteria.

The tree sale is this Saturday and Sunday (Dec 8+9) each day from 10:00AM until 4:00PM. In addition to the trees, there will be roping for tying that thing down, wreathes for sale, and tree stands for sale. Like last year there will also be free neighborhood delivery service via red wagon; so cool! New this yea is craft-making for kids. They'll get a chance to make their own ornament, and later, hang it on that tree. Very cool.

If you decide to get a tree on Saturday (yes, earlier is better!) head on over to the Lamont Street Holiday Party or the Cheap Art Sale for a nice end to the afternoon.

You don't have to wait until this weekend for neighborhood holiday fun. Mount Pleasant Main Street is hosting a holiday party of their own tonight. Find those favorite (and ugly!), winter-themed sweaters and show them off at Marx Cafe tonight starting at 7:30PM. The 2012 Ugly Holiday Sweater Party is of course all fun and games. No one will make fun of you, not out loud. So dig down deep in your closets and let's compare notes!

Lots going on this week, and that's a good thing!

Mt Pleasant Tree Sale is December 3-4

Yes, this photo was my tree topper last year.
The annual Bancroft Annual Holiday Tree Sale is happening the weekend of December 3-4. As always, the tree sale benefits the Bancroft Elementary PTA. I'm not sure which type of tree I purchased last year, but this year there will be Fraser Fir, Balsam, Douglas, White Pine, and Scotch Pine. I was much more concerned with the tree topper last year. I chose to put up a photograph of Boo the dog. Best tree topper ever.

Threes and select accessories will be on sale 10:00AM-4:00PM Saturday and Sunday or until the trees sell out (a real possibility... come early!). Last year there was also limited "delivery" service, but I'm not sure if that's happening his year. It consisted of a few kids and adults who wheeled the tree to your door on a red wagon for a small fee. Nice add-on.

Bancroft Elementary is located at the corner of 1755 Newton St NW in Mount Pleasant. The sale happens on the playground, accessible via 18th Street. If you're getting a tree this year, do it here!

Bancroft Tree Sale Returns December 4 + 5

The Bancroft Elementary School Holiday Tree Sale returns for 2010. The sale is organized by the Bancroft PTA and all proceeds will benefit the school directly. Bancroft is part of DCPS and is Mount Pleasant's only non charter public school.

The sale will take place at the school, 1755 Newton Street NW, from 10am-4pm this Saturday and Sunday, December 4th and 5th. In addition to the actual tree, you'll be able to pick up other accessories like tree stands, wreaths and roping. New (to me) this year: delivery! A range wasn't specified, but for $5, you'll get tree delivery to your front door or building lobby.
