Nationals Stadium and its construction were front page news for nearly two years, culminating with the first regular season game on March 30, 2008. An elaborate design-build process allowed the 40,000+ seat LEED certified stadium to be constructed in an unbelievable 18 months. This despite the fact that the Lerners (team owners) and DC City Council (stadium owners) couldn't come to terms on the bill even months after the alleged end of construction. The team will remain in the headlines and the battle over the stadium will live on in local history.
