The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture is slated to open in 2016. The Museum was founded in 2003, and after securing a space on the National Mall, began construction of a permanent building in 2012. The NMAAHC will be located just west of the National Museum of American History and east of the Washington Monument. They are making incredible progress. Check out one of their exhibitions Rising Up: Hale Woodruff’s Murals at Talladega College, at the NMAAHC Gallery inside of the American History Museum. It closes March 1, 2015 and is worth the trip.
